Charice sings on Italian show Io Canto
Filipina singer Charice has recently been invited to sing on an Italian show. Last Saturday, January 23, she performed on the televised singing contest called Io Canto (which translates to I Sing). The said show usually invites international singers to perform with the contestants. In the previous episode, they invited 11-year-old singer Bianca Ryan, the winner of America's Got Talent.
In the said episode, Charice performed the Italian song "Adagio" with young singer Christian Imparato. After performing the duet with Christian, the camera panned to show her mother, Raquel Pempengco, standing up along with everyone one else while clapping enthusiastically for the young singers. The audience members chanted the name of Charice while Christian thanked the Filipina singer in his native tongue.
The Io Canto contestants, whose ages range from 7 to 15 years old, then joined Charice in singing Beyonce's "Listen."
Charice also performed Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" and "I Have Nothing" as well as her first international single "Note To God" for Italian viewers.
According to Charice's manager, Grace Mendoza, this is Charice's second time to appear on Io Canto since she already performed there last year. Charice and her mother left for Italy last Friday, January 22, and they are expected to return to the Philippines this week.
Aside from appearing in Io Canto, Charice was invited to be a guest on Andrea Bocelli's birthday concert in July 2008 and appearing on the Italian musical variety show Ti Lascio Una Canzone (I'm Leaving a Song for You) in April 2009.
Last December 27, Charice already used her swarovski-studded microphone during the grand finals of Singapore Idol. Just like in the January 23 episode of Io Canto, Charice used the special mic, which was a gift from Sennheiser.
