Jolina Magdangal revamps herself with new look; changes manager
Jolina Magdangal gets an overhaul in terms of image when she appeared live yesterday, February 7, on Showbiz Central.
Jolens, as she is known, has changed in many ways since getting Perry Lansigan as her manager. Before Perry came into the picture, it was Jolens' father, Jun Magdangal, who managed her career since she started in showbiz. With Perry now handling her career, a new Jolina emerged—looking sophisticated and definitely ready for new challenges and her career's growth.
Her crucial change, however, left some questions about her switching managers. Rumor has it that her decision to have Perry as her new manager created a rift between her and dad and the two parted ways in a negative way.
THE NEW JOLINA. The now revamped look of Jolina—who was wearing hip and funky clothes at the time of the interview—surprised the audience and even Showbiz Central co-host John "Sweet" Lapus. Does this mean that the conservative Jolina is now going for the daring route?
"In particular, movies?" asked Sweet.
Jolina smiled and answered, "Siguro parang it is about time kasi nagawa ko na lahat, e, at 'yon na lang hindi.
CHANGE OF PHASE. Jolina's overall look was not the only thing she has changed. She also changed managers, shifting from her dad Jun Magdangal to Perry Lansigan.
Being the father of the family, kailangan niyang tutukan 'yon and siyempre, hindi naman magagawa nang sabay, e. Naisip namin na this is it and it was time.
Perry also handles the careers of Dingdong Dantes, Geoff Eigenmann, Angelika dela Cruz, Gabby Eigenmann, among others.
Jolina continued to reveal that her dad supported her decision to change managers. "Walang [ibang] ibig sabihin 'yon," she said.
After hearing this, Sweet followed up his question by saying that even though everything turned out okay, was Jolina's dad surprised when he first heard his daughter's decision?
"Sa family namin, pag nag-decide kami, e, hindi lang dahil nagwo-work na kumbaga as a team. Family talaga kami, e.
DADDY WISHES ALL THE BEST. In a separate interview, SC got to get Daddy Jun's say on the issue and his thoughts about his daughter's decision as a whole.
"It would be hypocritical for me to say na tuwang-tuwa ako," expressed Daddy Jun. "Siyempre, may kurot 'yon, e. Pero for the sake of her career and the sake of our business, it is the best decision I have ever had.
"Nakakapanibago. Honest to goodness, I have yet to see the concrete result of what they are doing. I am happy that the day has finally come na dito na namin makikita na anong klaseng manager si Perry at anong klaseng talent si Jolina pag iba manager niya, e, dito natin makikita."
About his relationship now with Jolina, Daddy Jun said, "It turned out for the better. Good luck and the best of everything!"
Jolina added that her dad is happy about her new look. Before appearing in Showbiz Central, Jolina performed in SOP as her comeback performance after more than a couple of months.
How about her boyfriend Mark Escueta? Was the Rivermaya drummer drummed up as well when he saw his girlfriend's new look?
"Si Mark, lagi 'yan sumusuporta sa akin talaga," Jolina said. "Lahat ng gusto kong gawin at natutuwa akong gawin, e, go siya. Tanong nga niya agad, 'Pati ako kailangan magganyan?'
Will she ever miss her daddy Jun as manager?
"Noong si Daddy manager ko, every day kasama," said Jolina.
Aside from having a new look and a new manager, Jolinas has also come up with a new magazine where she acts as the editor-in-chief, Jolie.
