John Lloyd and Bea remain only a love team
If there’s a love team in showbiz that movie fanatics would like to become real life lovers or couple, that would be John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo. Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen at the moment unless cupid fires love arrows and bind them together, or if fate intervenes.
Despite their love team remaining only as a love team, John and Bea admitted that they missed each other’s company since working together in the series “I Love Betty La Fea.” And their latest movie under Star Cinema entitled “Miss You Like Crazy” was a welcome movie project for their tandem’s comeback.
“Personally I missed working with John Lloyd because it’s been a long time,” Bea related in Filipino. “It was nice to be working with him again and I learned a lot again from him. It’s a new experience once again working with Lloydie!”
John Lloyd agreed with Bea. He expressed, “I’ve waited a long time for our movie together. You know when a love team stops working, their closeness diminishes. Because of this film our closeness was renewed and we’re both happy.”
“Miss You Like Crazy” is the story of John Lloyd and Bea meeting and falling in love with each other unexpectedly. The problem is that John Lloyd is already in a relationship with Maricar Reyes when he met Bea. In the movie directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, moviegoers will find out who John Lloyd will choose between the two, Maricar or Bea.
“A love story is universal and in the film we tried something new. We hope that moviegoers will like it. A love story becomes different on how you tell it, the characters and the way the story is told,” described Cathy Garcia of the latest John Lloyd/Bea movie.
What to expect too is the kissing scenes of John Lloyd and Bea which the director described to be at a “higher level” than their past films. The kissing scenes according to the director was shot in two days!
“My actors were actually tense before the kissing scenes. But I explained to them that their kissing scenes should be more than the last film they did…the intention of the love scene is different and there’s definitely fire and passion,” she said.
The director also admitted that she had qualms asking her actors to do the kissing scenes because she may be asking too much from them and it has been a long time since they worked with each other.
“I’m just happy that they trust me enough and they trust each other and they are comfortable with each other already. They were able to make it without any apprehension and hesitation and for me the scene came out okay,” she added.
From their kissing scene, Bea Alonzo even gave John Lloyd a perfect 10 rating as a kisser. She said that the scenes required them to really “feel the situation” and give all the emotions required from them. She attributed John Lloyd’s kissing prowess from being a good actor and playing his character well like she did too.
“Don’t forget that I was Bea’s first kiss in the movies. That’s an important fact,” kidded John Lloyd who also gave Bea a perfect 10 rating as a kisser!
So why is it impossible to turn their love team into real romance or become real lovers?
According to Bea, it is because their tandem was never given a situation to become real life lovers or real life love team.
“There’s just a lot of things in the world that you just can’t force like our love team. You just can’t force or push us to become more than just a love team because we don’t feel that way,” quipped Bea.
While John Lloyd explained that ever since their love team started, they never disillusioned their fans about themselves. They were always true to who they are and that was the secret to the success of their love team – their sincerity and chemistry! “If we pretend to be more than a love team to sell tickets or for people to watch our movies, I guess that will be the end of our love team,” John Lloyd stressed. “If love happens to us we can’t do anything about it. But it hasn’t happened yet. If it happens you’d know about it.”
So can anyone of them relate to their film?
“I can relate to it since there was a time in my past that I was already committed and I still fell for another…basically everyone can relate to this movie,” said John Lloyd.
Shot in the Philippines and Malaysia, “Miss You Like Crazy” opens on Feb. 24 and its theme song of the same title is sang by Erik Santos.
