Anne Curtis spearheads fund drive for Francine Prieto's mom

Young actress Anne Curtis has enjoined her celebrity friends to help out sexy star Francine Prieto’s mom Amelia, who has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Anne was able to reach out to many celebs in such a short time via the worldwide web, and of course, the now ever-ubiquitous celeb toy, Blackberry.

“We brought [the matter] to horizon, sa Twitter, sa Facebook, na walang sapilitan. It’s all for Mommy Amelia. Nag-BM (Blackberry message) lang kami hanggang sa ang dami nang gustong tumulong,” Anne narrated in “Showbiz News Ngayon” on March 1.

“Nabuo lang siya through Blackberry meesages. Wala nang halong politics when it comes to it… nationwide. We’re all in this together, trying to help someone,” she added.

Among those who had extended a helping hand to Mommy Amelia is the star of “Lobo,” Angel Locsin, who donated money.

“Naka-receive ako text. Kung anuman iyong desisyon nila, susuportahan ko naman kasi sobrang for a cause naman,” Angel said.

As of March 1, AnneCurtis’ group has raised about P800,000.

Anne profusely thanked the many celebrities who helped in the fund-raising.

“Sina Tito Boy Abunda, Ate Kris Aquino, Christian Bautista. Ito ‘yung from my list pa lang, ha? Drew Arellano, Iya Villania, Mariel Rodriguez, Jed Madela. Maraming-marami talaga. Then sina Sam Milby, Luis Manzano and Vhong Navarro,” Anne enumerated.

Francine was overjoyed by the outpouring of help from her colleagues in the business.

“Sobrang saya ko na nakakaiyak. Grabe! Ang dami pa palang mababait at mabubuting tao. Maraming-maraming salamat sa pagtulong ninyo sa akin,” the sexy star said.

Amelia Falcon was diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer last year. She has had six chemotherapy sessions and she’ll be needing more.

Just last week, Francine, with tears running down her face, related the painful experience.

“Noong Sunday nagpatakbo siya sa hospital kasi hindi siya makahinga. Yun pala, may fluid pala ang lungs niya. Ang mommy ko, hindi niya kaya ang pain. Nagpapahinga siya ng one week. Next week kailangan naming megdesisyon kung alin doon sa mga options ng klase ng chemotherapy ang gagawin kay mommy,” she shared via SNN.

“Sabi ko lang sa Diyos na sana, sabi ko, 'Lord tulungan n’yo naman kami. Bigyan N’yo pa ako ng work para makatulong ako kay mommy.' ‘Yung mommy ko nga, nakikita ko hindi siya sususuko, eh, di lalo na ako.”
